the 16th century, and in its present incarnation, you'll be served light meals ( bruschette ,

north of Orta on the main road, this family-run place has a winning combination of
lakeside tables and simple, non-nonsense cooking. Not surprisingly, it's deservedly popu-
lar. While the occasional meat dish appears, fish is the name of the game.

Sun) Established in the small town of Omegna on Lake Orta in 1921, Alessi went on to
transform modern kitchens with humorous, ultra-cool utensils designed by a pantheon of
great-name architect-designers, including most recently, Zaha Hadid. Go mad in their
huge factory outlet, where the whole range is on offer along with end-of-line deals.
