so smitten with this historic chocolate shop - established by the Torinese confectioners to
the royal house of Savoy - that he dedicated several sonnets in its honour. Many of the
handmade chocolates and bonbons, laid out in ceremonial splendour in glass cabinets set
against dark crimson walls, are still made to 19th-century recipes.

workshop, Elisa Nepi and her father craft exquisite, well-priced leather goods, including
wallets, bags, belts and sandals, in simple but classy designs and myriad colours. For €70
you should be able to pick up a purse, while satchels cost around €200.
