Rome teems with trattorias,
ristoranti,
pizzerias
, enoteche
(wine bars serving food) and
gelaterie. Excellent places dot the
centro storico,
Trastevere, Prati, Testaccio and San
Lorenzo. Be warned that the area around Termini has quite a few substandard restaurants,
as does the Vatican, which is packed with tourist traps.
Many restaurants close for several weeks during the traditional summer holiday month
of August.
