The fountain gets very busy during the day as people stop to follow tradition and throw
a coin into the water and thus ensure their return to Rome. To avoid the worst of the
crowds try to visit in the evening.
In 2012 Karl Lagerfield announced that the Fendi fashion house would be funding a
much-needed €2.18m restoration of the fountain.
