In-Depth Information
It's quite a climb up to Bosa's hilltop castle, Castello Malaspina (adult/reduced €4/3;
10am-7pm) , built in 1112 by a noble Tuscan family. Note that these opening times often
change, and it might well be open for longer during summer.
Down below, the Museo Casa Deriu (Corso Vittorio Emanuele 59; adult/reduced €4.50/3;
10am-1pm & 3-5pm Tue-Sun) illustrates the town's history, including a section on Bosa's old
tanning industry. Also of interest is the Gothic-Romanesque Cattedrale di San Pietro Extra-
muros , 2km from the old bridge on the south bank of the Temo.
Bosa has much to offer outdoor enthusiasts. You can hire bikes and scooters at Cuccu (
0785 37 32 98; Via Roma 5) , a mechanics' on the southern side of the river, for €10/40 per
day for a bike/scooter. At Bosa Marina, Bosa Diving ( 335 8189748; www.bosadiving.it ; Via
Colombo 2) runs dives (from €40) and snorkelling excursions (€20), and rents out canoes
(double canoe €10 per hour) and dinghies (from €25 per hour).

Marco are your affable hosts at this charmingly restored townhouse in Bosa's medieval

S'Ammentu
( 0785 37 61 80; www.sammentu.com ; Via Del Carmine 55; d €60-80; ) Squirreled away in the
backstreets of Bosa's old town, S'Ammentu offers warm hospitality in a lovingly restored
17th-century townhouse. A rickety lift (keep your finger on the button!) rises to rooms big
on original flair, with wrought-iron bedsteads, tiled floors, beams and stone arches. The
vaulted breakfast room doubles as a shared kitchen.
Hotel Sa Pischedda
( 0785 37 30 65; www.hotelsapischedda.com ; Via Roma 8; s €60-85, d €90-140; ) The apricot
façade of this elegantly restored house greets you on the southern side of the Ponte Vec-
chio. Several rooms have original frescoed ceilings, some are split-level, and there are ter-
races overlooking the river. This place is a real gem, and the restaurant is exceptional.
