Torre di Mariano II
(Piazza Roma)
One of the few vestiges of Oristano's medieval past, the 13th-century tower
was the town's northern gate and an important part of the city defences. From here, pedes-
trianised Corso Umberto I leads to Piazza Eleonora d'Arborea.
TOWER
Queen Eleonora's Statue
(Piazza Eleonora d'Arborea)
In the centre of Piazza Eleonora d'Arborea, Oristano's elegant
outdoor salon, stands an ornate 19th-century statue of Eleonora, raising a finger as if
about to launch into a political discourse.
PIAZZA
CHURCH
Chiesa di San Francesco
(Via Sant'Antonio)
This neoclassical church harbours a 14th-century wooden sculpture, the
Crocifisso di Nicodemo,
considered one of Sardinia's most precious carvings.
