cheerful Aeolian-style guesthouse is only 100m from a sweet black-sand beach in Piscitá,
the tranquil neighbourhood at the west end of town. Dorms, private doubles and a guest
kitchen all surround a sunny patio, overhung with vines, fragrant with lemon blossoms,
and decorated with the masks and stone carvings of sculptor-owner Tano Russo.
Call for free pickup (low season only) or take a taxi (€10) from the port 2km away.

trance courtyard with lemon and olive trees and a multilingual paperback library for
guests' reading pleasure. The roof terrace commands views of the sea one side and the
volcano the other. Two larger rooms with air-con cost extra. Half-board is compulsory in
July and August.

come on - you're on Stromboli! Make the 45-minute uphill trek to this pizzeria and you'll
be rewarded with exceptional volcano views from the newly expanded panoramic terrace,
best after sundown.

for volcano-climbing provisions or a self-catering lunch, this reasonably priced neigh-
bourhood grocery, five minutes west of the trekking agency offices, has a well-stocked
deli case full of meats, cheeses, olives, artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes, plus shelves
full of wine and awesomely tasty mini-focaccias (€2).

Follow the trail of painted lizards to this great hideaway, down an alley off Via Roma.
Flanked by a towering cactus, the shaded verandah of a whitewashed Aeolian house
serves as the dining area, eclectically decorated with ship lamps and a whale skeleton dis-
covered nearby by the owner. Gorgeous traditional seafood is served with a slightly mod-
ern twist, backed by an excellent local wine list.
