example of Romanesque architecture; the rest of the building was destroyed in 1566 when
the city was sacked by the Turks, and later rebuilt.
Museo Civico Archaeologica

Renaissance Palazzo d'Avalos houses this museum, with its eclectic collection of ancient
bronzes, glasswork and paintings. Three other museums are also within the Palazzo
d'Avalos - the Pinacoteca Comunale (admission €3.50) , the Galleria d'Arte Moderna (admission
free) and the Museo del Costume (admission €1.50) . A combined ticket to see all museums
costs €5.

brash little place with swoon-worthy Adriatic views and delicious home cooking, includ-
ing sumptuous risottos. To get here, follow the passeggiata (evening stroll) sign to the

Getting There & Away
The train station (Vasto-San Salvo) is about 2km south of Vasto Marina. Trains run fre-
quently to Pescara (€4.50, one hour) and Termoli (from €2.40, 15 minutes). From the sta-
tion take bus 1 or 4 for Vasto Marina and the town centre.
