Vecchio Mulino
( 0864 74 72 19; Via Silla 50; pizzas/meals €7/25; closed Wed winter) This old-school eatery is
a good bet for a classic wood-fired pizza, cheesy antipasti and char-grilled hunks of pork
and lamb. In summer the pretty streetside terrace provides a good perch to people-watch.

Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise
Encompassing 1100 sq km of spectacular mountain scenery, the Parco Nazionale
d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise is the oldest and most popular of Abruzzo's national parks,
founded in 1922. It is also an important natural habitat and home to the native Marsican
brown bear and Apennine wolf. If you're very lucky you might also spot one of the few
remaining lynx.
The park offers superb hiking as well as skiing, mountain biking and other outdoor pur-
suits. While Pescasseroli has the most amenities, it lacks the remote feel and charm of tiny
Civitella Alfedena, the base of numerous hikes, and lofty Opi.
