Tue-Sun winter) holding a fine (if hardly overwhelming) collection of paintings, and a rather
more successful archaeological section - lots of old coins and ceramics.
The cathedral ( 075 894 30 41; Piazza del Popolo; 8.30am-1pm & 3.30-6.30pm) , at the
northwestern end of the square, has a magnificent rose window. You can skip it, however,
to visit two of Umbria's most impressive churches. The lofty Tempio di San Fortunato (Piazza
Umberto 1; 10am-1pm & 2.30-7pm summer, 10am-1pm & 2.30-5pm Wed-Mon winter) has frescoes
by Masolino da Panicale and holds the tomb of Beato Jacopone, Todi's beloved patron

10am-1pm & 3-6.30pm summer, 10.30am-1pm & 2.30-5pm winter, closed Mon) , where views of the
hills and castles surrounding Todi await.
The postcard you've just written from the Piazza del Popolo? Most likely it's of Todi's
famed church, the late-Renaissance masterpiece Chiesa di Santa Maria della Consolazione (Via
della Consolazione; 9.30am-12.30pm & 2.30-6.30pm summer, 9.30am-12.30pm & 2.30-5pm Wed-Mon
winter) . Inside, architecture fans can admire its geometrically perfect Greek cross design.
