In-Depth Information
Afternoon
Stagger around Cattedrale di San Romolo (Piazza Mino di Fiesole; 7.30am-noon & 3-5pm)
, the central square's centrepiece, which dates from the 11th century but was renovated in the
19th. A terracotta statue of San Romolo by Giovanni della Robbia guards the entrance inside.
Afterwards, from the far end of the square, make your way up steep walled Via San Francesco and
be blown away by the beautiful panorama of Florence that unfolds from the terrace adjoining 15th-
century Basilica di Sant'Alessandro . (If you're lucky, the church might be open and have a tempor-
ary exhibition inside.) Grassy-green afternoon-nap spots abound and the tourist office has brochures
outlining several short trails (1km to 3.5km) fanning from here, should you prefer to carry on walking.
Getting There & Around
ATAF bus 7 (€1.20, 20 minutes, every 15 minutes) goes from Florence's Piazza San Marco uphill to
