perfumery-pharmacy began life when the Dominican friars of Santa Maria Novella began
to concoct cures and sweet-smelling unguents using medicinal herbs cultivated in the
monastery garden. The shop today sells a wide range of fragrances, remedies, teas and
skin-care products. A real treasure, it has touchscreen catalogues and a state-of-the-art
payment system yet still manages to ooze vintage charm.
