In-Depth Information
tures help you as a designer to view relevant data during the modeling
process.
Once the date table is specified, time intelligence can be applied to the data. You can
specify a table as a date table by navigating to
TABLE
|
Date
|
Mark As Date Table
when the table is selected. In our example, select the
Date
table and then set it as
the
Date
table for the model. Usually, this will detect and set the date column of this
table as well, but it is always good to verify that the correct column was identified.
You can also designate certain columns as part of the
Default Field Set
property.
This can be done from the
Properties
page for a column or a table. In the
Reporting
Properties
section, click on the ellipse button to the right of the
Default Field Set
property. This will allow you to select the fields and the order of those fields that rep-
resent the
default
view of the table. This can be used by some client tools that enable
you to select a table instead of individual fields while creating visualizations.
Often, there are fields included in the model that do not need to be seen or used by
the users. You can hide these by using the Context menu on a column and selecting
the
Hide from Client Tools
option, or by changing the value of the
Hidden
property
on the
Properties
page. The same options work for tables; you just need to select
the table instead of the column.
