If you need to change the target server for your tabular development, you can do
that by modifying the settings for the model. Right-click on
Model.bim
and select
Properties
. From this
Properties
page, you can change
Workspace Server
and
set
Workspace Retention
. The server just needs to have an Analysis Services tab-
ular instance on it.
The
Workspace Retention
property is used to set how the tabular instance man-
ages your model when the project is closed.
Workspace Retention
is set to
Unload
from Memory
by default. This has the following three options:
Keep in Memory
,
Un-
load from Memory
, and
Delete Workspace
.
Keep in Memory
will keep the work-
space database in memory even after you have closed the project.
Unload from
Memory
will remove the database from the memory.
Delete Workspace
will remove
the database from the server once you have closed the project. The
Delete Work-
space
and
Unload from Memory
options force you to reload the data whenever you
want to work on your project. You should choose the best option based on the re-
sources you have available on your workspace server.
