When the preparation process is finished you will end up seeing the screen shown in Figure 17-44 , which has a
look and feel very similar to My Oracle Support; this gave me some concern as the point of the process is that we are
not connecting to MOS.

To execute the patch, use the patching wizard at Enterprise Provisioning and Patching Patches and Updates .
But before that, it struck me that the above interface looks familiar—is EM talking back to MOS in offline mode, as the
interface style is identical to MOS?
Let's run a packet capture on an offline, fresh set-up process to sniff out the communications between EM12c
offline patching mode and My Oracle Support when that MOS style page comes up. In the following screen you can
see that I have a packet sniffer (tcpdump) listening to all communications from EM as we set up the offline job.
