In-Depth Information
I think this is a useful feature and I am pleased that Oracle appears to have read the recommendations in my
Oracle Forensics book, which described the need for this feature. Of course, there is a cost to the hierarchical nature
of EM as the facet-checking and results are delayed by the need to wait to upload and download through the system.
Localized native IPS and state-checking immediately ran directly from *nix cron runs and is therefore able to react
more quickly. However, EM has centralized control of the whole estate so it can push out a new security configuration
more efficiently. Let's demonstrate its use.
State-checking glogin.sql Using a Facet
The aim of this section is to provide an easy way to automate state-checking of glogin.sql throughout the estate.
This is very easy to do with facets. Click on the Facets tab and then choose Create Facet . Then enter a name and type
for the new facet. In Figure 17-32 the name is glogin.sql and it is a host facet.
