In-Depth Information
As far as the menu goes, any country with a fondness for cheese and potatoes like
Switzerland is bound to be popular with kids of all ages (including large ones called
'adults'). And there's also the Swiss mania for ice cream in virtually all weather condi-
tions.
Then there's the big elephant in the room, the big cocoa elephant: chocolate. From
iconic Alpine-shaped Toblerone to a plethora of bars sold in all sizes and flavours, the
country is awash in treats. One final item that should seal the deal for most kids: one of
life's great pleasures is sitting outside at a ski resort and drinking the richest, creamiest hot
chocolate imaginable.
Towns & Cities
Swiss cities are also child-friendly. There's lots to do in both Zürich ( Click here ) and
Geneva ( Click here ) and at every other city and town in between. None are huge and in-
timidating - even in Zürich you can take the time to admire a white swan gliding past the
busiest part of town. Castles abound and you've got ancient and thrilling features like the
old wooden bridges in Lucerne.
Up in the Alps, kids can run free in a town like Wengen, where trails set off across the
gorgeous countryside but there are few opportunities to get in trouble.
