List
PATRICIA CARMINATI, GUIDE
1 MARKET FOOD & PARKS
Visit Lugano's street market (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) and at lunch time, do as
local people do - buy some polenta with gorgonzola cheese sold by one local farmer
who cooks it on Piazza della Riforma ( Click here ) . Take it away and go to Ciani
Park where you can eat under the trees with a wonderful view of the lake. After lunch,
relax at the 'Park and read' open-air library where you can borrow a book and a com-
fortable chair.
2 BOAT & SWIM LAKE LUGANO
Take a boat ( Click here ) to Cantine di Gandria ; after 20 minutes you will be on the
opposite shore of the lake. You can swim in the clear waters of Lake Lugano and then
enjoy a typical lunch in one of the grottos there.
3 TREKKING
If you like trekking, take the cable car to Monte Brè and then walk to Monte Boglia
(this is only one of the many trekking paths in the Lugano area). Don't miss the
lakeside Gandria walking path, which takes about one hour, and is nice and easy.
