1 SCHLOSS ARBON
This 16th-century castle watches over the historic centre of Arbon. The castle's Histor-
isches Museum (Alemannenstrasse 4; adult/child Sfr4/2; 2-5pm May-Sep, Sun only Mar-Apr &
Oct-Nov) races you through 5500 years of history, from the Stone Age to the 18th-century
linen trade. On one lane, centuries-old houses display frescos depicting trades of yore.
Arbon is on the train line between Zürich and Rorschach.
2 SCHLOSS WARTEGG

cent fantasy palace is a 10-minute drive from central Rorschach on the hillside above
town. This 16th-century former royal Austrian castle is set in leafy grounds with tower-
ing sequoias and Lake Constance views.
Sights
Winterthur owes much of its eminence as an art mecca to collector Oskar Reinhart, a scion
of a powerful banking and insurance family. His collection was bequeathed to the nation
