Zürich Don't Miss List
JANINA BARUTH, ZÜRICH RESIDENT AND MEDIA EXECUTIVE
1 LAKE ZÜRICH SWIMMING
One of the most beautiful spots during summertime is Seebad Enge . By day you can
swim in Lake Zürich while watching the Alps with their snowy tops in the background.
There are trendy people and almost no kids. It gets packed during the weekend when
it's sunny. In the afternoon the bar is open, plus there are many events such as readings
and little concerts. It's a 10-minute walk from the tram station Bürkliplatz.
2 UETLIBERG: ZÜRICH'S MOUNTAIN
Only a few minutes away by train from the main station by S-Bahn (No 10, station:
Uetliberg) you get a break from the urban stress and still have the feeling of being in
the city. From the Uetliberg hill you have a beautiful view all over the city and lake.
There's a great restaurant too.
3 LANGSTRASSE IN KREIS 4 AND 5
In Zürich's most colourful and lively area you'll find bars, restaurants and clubs. Art-
house movies are big here, including the summertime Kino Röntgenplatz
( www.sommerkinoröntgenplatz.ch ) , which is an open-air cinema showing classics. It's been
going for almost 30 years and the tradition is that it rains, so bring a jacket. It's free but
a hat is passed around.
