skinn (3000m) then the Mittelallin funicular to the top; a Saas Fee-Allalin return costs
Sfr106.
Activities
Saas Fee's slopes are snow-sure, with most skiing taking place above 2500m and the gla-
cier acting like a deep freeze. The 145km of groomed, scenic pistes are more suited to be-
ginners and intermediates. The resort is a snowboarding mecca and regularly hosts world
championships. Boarders gravitate towards the kickers, half-pipe and chill-out zone at the
glacial freestyle park on Allalin in summer and lower down the slopes at Morenia
(2550m) in winter. A one-day ski-lift pass costs Sfr68 and a six-day ski-lift pass costs
Sfr346; kids aged under nine ride for free.
Sleeping
In season (December to April, July and August) hotels only offer half-board. Most close
completely in May and November. Hotel guests get a free Visitor's Card which yields a
bonanza of savings, including on car parking fees, cable cars and so on.
