At Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad , the trend for major spachitecture was taking
shape during our visit. Expect the Mario Botta-designed temple to relaxation to be opened
during 2012.
The 33-room Rigi Kulm Hotel ( 041 880 18 88; www.rigikulm.ch ; s Sfr148-203, d Sfr228-318;
) is the only major establishment at the summit and commands stirring views. The
natty streamlined rooms mix old and new furnishings and boast immaculate bathrooms,
plus there's a good restaurant and stylishly decorated self-service cafeteria for those not
staying the night.
Rigi is a magnet to hikers; for recommended routes, check www.rigi.ch . There are sev-
eral easy walks (one to two hours) down from Rigi Kulm to Rigi Kaltbad, with wonderful
views.
