Gruyère in Gruyères
The folks over in the Emmental region might object to us saying this, but Gruyères ( Click
here ) is the nearly namesake town for what could be the best Swiss cheese. And what a
namesake it is! A beautiful downtown of ancient buildings tumbles down to its old streets
where wheels echo on the cobblestones. Cheese factories and bistros serving fondue
abound, and overlooking it all is a classic castle.
