Some 12km west of Lausanne, the first town of importance is the wine-growing village
of Morges ( www.morges-tourisme.ch ). Dominating its bijou port is the squat, four-turreted
13th-century Château de Morges (Place du Port; adult/child Sfr10/3; 10am-5pm Jul & Aug,
10am-noon & 1.30-5pm Tue-Fri, 1.30-7pm Sat & Sun Mar-Jun & Sep-Nov) , built by Savoy duke Louis
in 1286 and home to four military-inspired museums today. Don't miss the 10,000 toy sol-
diers on parade in the Musée de la Figurine Historique .
