Sights
Geneva's major sights are split by the Rhône, which flows through the city to create its
greatest attraction - the lake - and several distinct neighbourhoods. On the left bank (
rive
gauche
), mainstream shopping districts Rive and Eaux-Vives climb uphill from the water
to Plainpalais and Vieille Ville (Old Town), while the right bank
(rive droite)
holds
grungy bar- and club-hot Pâquis, the train-station area and the international quarter that
houses most world organisations
.
