Lakeside La Côte

), between Geneva and Lausanne, villages are strung
along the lake like bunches of grapes in the hillside vineyards. Heading west on a walk
from Lausanne, one of the first villages you reach is St Sulpice, which has a noted cathed-
ral. Another 6km and you're in Morges, where you can ponder its harbourside 13th-century
castle. Another worthwhile stop is Nyon for splendid ice cream.
