In-Depth Information
nanoparticles/nanowires can play a key role in continuous monitoring of water for
selected pathogens. Recently a number of commercial platforms have been successfully
launched for the biological warfare agents. Similar automated and portable platforms are
needed for the detection of waterborne pathogens. Application of sensors to the water
industry is highly limited by the sample processing steps. Novel micro- and nanoscale
materials, like paramagnetic beads, can be employed to solve this problem to some
extent. In addition, novel DNA concentration schemes are needed, such as synchronous
coefficient of drag alteration that could be used to eliminate substrates inhibitory to PCR
from water samples.
