enucleated eyes from patients with AMD or RP have demonstrated the partial
preservation of inner retinal cells. When comparing the number of cells in
10 eyes with geographic atrophy to the number of cells in 5 normal eyes,
one study demonstrated cell loss in all three nuclear layers in areas where
RPE was completely absent [30]. Cell loss was most pronounced in the ONL
