17.6 The Works Contract/2 for use with MC 98
17.6.1 The clauses dealing with extension of time
The text of clauses 2.1-2.10 is as follows:
Works Contractor's obligation - carrying out and completion of the Works -
extension of Works Contract time (2.1 to 2.10)
2.1 The Works Contractor shall carry out and complete the Works in accordance
with the details in Works Contract/1, Section 2, item 1, and reasonably in
accordance with the progress of the Project but subject to receipt of the notice
to commence work on site as stated in Works Contract/1, Section 2, item
1 and to the operation of clauses 2.1 to 2.10 and any revision of the period or
periods for the completion of the Works in respect of a Variation for which
a 3.14 Quotation has been given and which has been stated by the Manage-
ment Contractor in his acceptance of a 3.14 Quotation. The Management
Contractor shall give to the Works Contractor sufficient information on the
progress of the Project to enable him to fulfil his obligations under clauses 2.1
and 2.2.

If and whenever it becomes reasonably apparent that the commence-
ment, progress or completion of the Works or any part thereof is being
or is likely to be delayed, the Works Contractor shall forthwith give
written notice to the Management Contractor of the material circum-
stances including, insofar as the Works Contractor is able, the cause or
causes of the delay and identify in such notice any matter which in his
opinion comes within clause 2.3.1.1.

In respect of each and every matter which comes within clause 2.3.1.1,
and identified in the notice given in accordance with clause 2.2.1, the
Works Contractor shall, if practicable in such notice or otherwise in
writing as soon as possible after such notice:

.1 give particulars of the expected effects thereof; and

estimate the extent, if any, of the expected delay in the completion of
the Works or any part thereof beyond the expiry of the period or
periods stated in Works Contract/1, Section 2, item 1, or any revision
of such period or periods which results therefrom whether or not
concurrently with delay resulting from any other matter which comes
within clause 2.3.1.1; and

.3 give such further written notices to the Management Contractor as
may be reasonably necessary or as the Management Contractor may
reasonably require for keeping up-to-date the particulars and esti-
mate referred to in clause 2.2.2.1 and 2.2.2.2 including any material
change in such particulars or estimate.

If on receipt of any notice, particulars and estimate under clause 2.2 the
Management Contractor properly considers that:
