Heading south from Portree, turn right past Bradford on the road to Armadale , where
you take the ferry to Mallaig ; the drive from here to Fort William is on the scenic Road
to the Isles . Spend two nights in Fort William , allowing time to visit lovely Glen Nevis
, and perhaps even to climb Ben Nevis .

1½ hours Via A82 and A85; add one hour for a detour to Glen Coe. 1½ hours Direct buses twice a day.

Plan a day trip from Oban to Iona - you can take your own car on the ferry (Craignure to
Fionnphort is only 35 miles, but allow 1½ hours each way) or take an organised tour.

2½ hours A85 and A82 via Loch Lomond. Three hours Three direct buses daily.
