The road north leads past Loch Lomond , and there will be time for a break at Loch
Lomond Shores or Luss . Oban, the 'gateway to the isles' awaits, with a choice of sever-
al top-notch seafood restaurants .
OBAN TOBERMORY
Two hours Ferry from Oban to Craignure, then A849/848; detour to Iona takes at least four hours.

hours Ferry to Craignure then connecting bus; Iona can be visited on an organised tour from Oban.

Be up in time for the first ferry to Mull, and head west to Fionnphort for a trip to the ma-
gical Isle of Iona . Plan to spend two nights in Tobermory so that you can explore the rest
of Mull, including Duart Castle and the beach at Calgary .
TOBERMORY FORT WILLIAM
Three hours Ferry to Kilchoan, then A861 and A830 via Glenfinnan; detour to Ardnamurchan Point adds one hour.

Take the ferry from Tobermory to Kilchoan, and detour west to Ardnamurchan Point ,
the most westerly point on the British mainland. From here a magnificent scenic drive
leads back east via Glenfinnan to Fort William. While you're there, make a trip to lovely
Glen Nevis , and set aside the following day to climb Ben Nevis .
FORT WILLIAM AVIEMORE
1½ hours Via A86 and A9.

You'll be weary after your climb, so plan a midday start and allow two nights in Aviemore
and the Cairngorms National Park . As well as Loch Morlich and the Cairngorm
Mountain Railway , visit the Highland Wildlife Park at nearby Kincraig and the osprey
reserve at Loch Garten .
