You'll need two days to do justice to the Scottish capital, taking in Edinburgh Castle ,
strolling down the Royal Mile , touring the halls of the Palace of Holyroodhouse and
heading down to Leith to board the Royal Yacht . Put aside an afternoon to visit the beau-
tiful and mysterious Rosslyn Chapel , made famous by the movie The Da Vinci Code .
There's great shopping along Princes St and George St, and some of Scotland's best res-
taurants too.

One day will give you enough time to visit Stirling Castle - many people think this pic-
turesque fortress is even more interesting and evocative than Edinburgh Castle - and Ban-
nockburn , the battlefield where Robert the Bruce led the Scots to victory over the Eng-
lish in 1314. There's the Wallace Monument too, a tribute to the freedom fighter immor-
talised in the movie Braveheart . No need to stay overnight here - head on to Glasgow at
the end of the day.
STIRLING GLASGOW
45 minutes Via the M80. 40 minutes Frequent services from Stirling to Glasgow Queen St.

Culture vultures will need two days to absorb all that Scotland's biggest city has to offer -
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum and the Burrell Collection are both world class
and will occupy you for a full day. Then there's the Hunterian Gallery and the Mackin-
tosh House , and the museums along the Clyde. But if one day of art appreciation is
enough, you could spend your final day on a trip to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond ,
less than an hour away by car or train.
