lage houses exhibits on the cultural and natural history of the region, plus a small but fas-
cinating exhibition on the part played by the local area as a base for training spies for the
Special Operations Executive (SOE, forerunner of MI6) during WWII.

If you're travelling between Fort William and Skye, you may find yourself overnighting
in the bustling fishing and ferry port of Mallaig. Indeed, it makes a good base for a series
of day trips by ferry to the Small Isles and Knoydart.
