Edinburgh Military Tattoo
Of all the events held in Edinburgh in August, few are as enduringly popular as the Military
Tattoo (

. It's an extravaganza of marching bands, dancers, motorcycle display
teams, acrobats and military set pieces performed by service people from British, Com-
monwealth and other armed forces from around the world. Held annually on the castle
esplanade since 1950, it regularly sells out, with more than 200,000 people attending each
year.
