The Trossachs
The Trossachs ( Click here ) is as famous for its literary links as it is for its picture-postcard
scenery - it was here that Sir Walter Scott set his epic poem The Lady in the Lake , inspired
by Loch Katrine, and his historic novel Rob Roy . While Loch Lomond is at its scenic best
in spring and early summer, when bluebell woods and rhododendron blooms add colour to
the scene, the Trossachs come alive in autumn, when the turning leaves bring a blaze of fire
and gold to the native woods of oak, birch and ash.
