The Sligachan Hotel , or The Slig, is a near village in itself, encompassing a luxurious hotel, a microbrewery,
self-catering cottages, a bunkhouse, a campsite, a big barn of a pub (Seamus's Bar) and an adventure playground.
There are five buses a day on weekdays (one on Saturday) from Portree to Carbost via Sligachan.

Sleeping
Portree is well supplied with B&Bs, but many of them are in bland, modern bungalows
that, though comfortable, often lack character. Accommodation fills up fast in July and
August so be sure to book ahead.

awaits at this appealing B&B in the centre of town. All four bedrooms have a view across
the harbour to the hill that gives the house its name and breakfasts include vegetables
grown in the garden.

PEINMORE HOUSE££

about 2 miles south of Portree, this former manse has been converted into a guesthouse
that is more luxurious than most hotels. The bedrooms and bathrooms are huge (one bath-
room has an armchair in it!), as is the choice of breakfast (kippers and smoked haddock on
the menu), and there are views to the Old Man of Storr.

BOSVILLE HOTEL ££

brings a bit of metropolitan style to Portree with its designer fabrics and furniture,
flatscreen TVs and bright, spacious bathrooms. It's worth splashing out a bit for the
'premier' rooms, with leather recliner chairs from which you can lap up the view over the
town and harbour.
