Stirling Castle
For centuries Stirling sat astride the route taken by English armies invading from the south.
Its crag-top castle commanded the crossing of the River Forth at Stirling Bridge - site of a
famous victory for William Wallace in 1297 - and was a favourite residence of Kings
James IV and James V. Stirling Castle ( Click here ) is as much of a must-see as Edinburgh,
along with the nearby historical attractions of Bannockburn battlefield and the National
Wallace Monument ( Click here ) .
