Wildlife
Sparsely populated, and with large areas of wilderness, Scotland is an important sanctuary
for all sorts of land- air- and sea-based creatures ( Click here ) . Amazing birdwatching is on
offer throughout the country, with the ospreys of Loch Garten and the white-tailed sea
eagles of Skye and Mull the highlights. Capercaillie, corncrakes, golden eagles and red
kites are other feathered drawcards. Meanwhile, red deer roam the heathered uplands, pine
martens and wildcats stalk the forests, and dolphins, whales, otters and orcas splash about
in the northern waters.
