Burrell Collection
Wealthy industrialist Sir William Burrell bequeathed his magnificent art collection ( Click
here ) , comprising more than 8000 objects, to the city of Glasgow in 1944. But it wasn't
until 1983 that this splendid building was constructed in leafy Pollok Park to display
everything from Chinese porcelain and medieval furniture to Islamic art and paintings by
Renoir and Cézanne. The most famous piece is Rodin's iconic sculpture, The Thinker .
