20% of the respondents were neutral, and wanted to strike a balance between usability
and creative attitude. (See Figure 8.34(b).)
Discussion/conclusion.
The hypothesis was supported by the results. However, what was not clear enough
was the degree of similarity the users would welcome the most, that is, if the users
would react better at some element taken directly from another UI, or would like the
copy on a more general level, such as a UI pattern or layout. Also, the results did
not tell anything about the cultural inclination towards the art of copy and copying
present in Asia. About a third of the respondents disagreed and supported original and
novel designs. Between the Czech and Chinese respondents there were no significant
differences, except from the side of those who disagreed. The Chinese results showed a
stronger difference between affirmative and disapproving responses, while the Czech
results contained more neutral votes.
