are sympathetic and organic. Fully rounded or square/straight shapes were almost
even with 27% and 22%. From the rounded set, windows were the most favorite
(62%). Rounded windows were found to be soft, but still fully intelligible. From the
square/straight set, dividers lead with 75%. Straight dividers were found to be clear
and to counterbalance the other elements. (See Table 8.2.)
Discussion/conclusion.
Both the hypotheses were fully supported by the results. No significant differences
were found between both of the tested groups.

Results summary.
Most of the respondents (55% + 5%) would design a website looking similar to
well-known ones. The main reasons would be familiarity with the way the content
is presented on a layout gained from experience. The users stressed the convenience
of such an approach, because it builds on proven design principles, thus saving time
in finding the right information. Websites should differ between one another rather
through content. (See Figure 8.34(a).)
On the other hand, 35% of the respondents disagreed: In websites they would look
for interesting, inspiring, unique, or even breakthrough designs. The reasons for this
would be to evolve the current design and to have the websites cater to the user's
needs. Also, a preference for simple, uncluttered UI was cited.
