1. Choose the Pen tool in the toolbar, and make sure that the Path option is selected in
the options bar ( Figures 1.67 and 1.68 ) .

2. Go to File > New, create a new document 1000 pixels by 800 pixels at 240ppi, and
click OK. (We're just using this new document to practice.)
3. Curves are the hardest thing to create with the Pen tool. Choose the Path Selection
tool ( Figure 1.69 ), and in the options at the top of the screen ensure that the Con-
strain Path Dragging checkbox is selected ( Figure 1.70 ) . (Depending on your ver-
sion of Photoshop, you may notice that it is turned off by default.)
