1. Click the arrow next to the Rabbit group in the Layers panel, add a new blank lay-
er below the rabbit layer, and name it contact shadow .
2. With a medium hard-edged brush at 100% opacity, paint the contact shadow along
the length of the rabbit, where the toy is closest to the floor. Then add another
blank layer, name it shape shadow , and with a soft-edged brush paint a shadow
around the rabbit that would appear to have been cast by a light source coming
from the left side of the picture (in this case, it would be moonlight) ( Figure 9.30 ) .
Adjust the opacity of this shape shadow layer to control how dark it is. I found that
25% opacity worked well, but this can be changed later ( Figure 9.31 ) .
