6. Grab the Dodge tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top of the screen, ensure
that Range is Midtones and that Exposure is 10%. Make sure that the Protect
Tones checkbox is selected. Dodge and burn the face and hand using the technique
described in Chapter 2 . You could also add another 50% gray layer and work on
the shirt, dodging and burning to accentuate the creases and folds ( Figure 6.14 ).

7. The nose has a bright highlight caused by the original studio lights, and I find it a
little distracting. Click the bottom layer (editor), add a new blank layer above it,
and rename it nose shine .
8. Choose the Healing Brush tool from the toolbar. In the settings at the top of the
screen, set Mode to Darken, Source to Sampled, and Sample to Current and Below.
