9. Set the foreground color to white. With a soft-edged brush, paint on the layer mask
to reveal the effect where you want it. Now you can experiment with the Opacity
setting, or perhaps soften the effect further by adding a small amount of Gaussian
Blur.
Reflected Light
In this technique I show you how to create realistic reflected light.
This is a lighting effect I use a lot to add realism into a scene where other lighting effects
have been used. It has many uses and, in fact, a wedding photographer friend of mine even
uses this technique to enhance photographs of brides' hands by adding light that reflects
off the stone in the ring.
1. Figure 3.40 shows the original image. The intention here is to add a blue light
coming from the center of his chest. I start by adding a new blank layer to the top
of the layer stack and naming it blue light .
