6. This has now turned the layer style into a new layer to which we can add a layer
mask ( Figure 3.22 ) . With a black, soft-edged brush, paint away (reduce) the light-
ing effect. In this case I set the brush to 20% opacity and reduced the effect on the
left side of the model's face.
