In-Depth Information
Figure B-22 Geotextile separated a storage bed from soil in early designs.
Figure B-23 Unpaved edge becomes a drain in event of pavement clogging.
for three decades and continues to function. Anticipated issues of ice damage,
cracking, settlement, and deterioration have never materialized.
As a point of interest, the surface seems to have a smooth and stable appear-
ance, and no cracking or weathering is apparent. Cleaning has been on a random
basis and has diminished over time as site maintenance has changed. Other por-
tions of the site, paved with conventional AC, have required resurfacing twice
since 1982. The carbonate geology has also created sinkholes on other portions
of the site around inlets set in impervious pavements.
