effects of increased impervious surfaces, including the use of porous pavement to
restore groundwater recharge, restoration of forested valley slopes, preservation
of existing forested stream lowlands and daylighting of buried streams, in order
to restore the hydrologic balance for this campus. The university created a GIS
database to facilitate this planning. The plan received an Excellence in Planning
Award in 2005 from the Society for College and University Planning, AIA.
Prior to and as part of the campus planning process, Cahill Associates prepared
the Hydrologic and Hydraulic Model Analysis of Potential Flooding Conditions
(March 2004) for a portion of the campus, followed by the Stormwater Manage-
ment Plan (October 2004), prepared in conjunction with Andropogon Associates
