Syntagma & Plaka to Monastiraki
The Walk
Boisterous, monument-packed central Athens is best explored on foot. The historic centre,
as well as the main archaeological sites, major landmarks, museums and attractions, are
within a short distance of each other. The main civic hub of Athens, Plateia Syntagmatos,
merges into the historic Plaka and Monastiraki neighbourhoods, which mesh one into the
next, and make for a super stroll to soak up a bit of city centre life. At any point along the
way, ancient sites lie nearby, calling for a detour.
