Temple of Olympian Zeus
The Temple of Olympian Zeus ( Click here ) , the largest temple in Greece, had 104 Cor-
inthian columns, of which 15 remain. It was dedicated to supreme god Zeus. Peisistratos
began building it in the 6th century BC, a succession of leaders continued, and Hadrian fi-
nally completed it in AD 131.
Hadrian's Arch
Heading towards Plaka, teetering on the edge of the traffic, is Hadrian's Arch ( Click
here ) , the ornate gateway erected in AD 132 to mark the boundary between Hadrian's
Athens and the ancient city.
